Lot of 5 portraits of couples of varying age housed in the same cases. This collection includes two sixth plates of a middle aged couple housed in a full pressed paper case, as well as two ninth plates of a man and woman housed in a full pressed paper sixth plate case under a couples' mat. Of particular note are three portraits in thermoplastic cases. The first is a ninth plate housed in a geometric/scroll case featuring portraits of a young woman and a bespectacled young man, the latter of which appears to be done after a painting or drawing. The second set of ninth plate portraits features a gentleman with curly hair and a woman with a deep center part and large brooch and is house in a scarce thermoplastic case of the "Family Party" design (K-560). The third set is comprised of two sixteenth plate daguerreotypes, one of a bearded man, the other of a woman in a lace bonnet, housed in a double sixteenth case catalogued by Berg as "Very Rare" (B 2-107 Wildflowers). Provenance:Charles A. and Frances Swedlund Collection of Early Photography Condition: All have been resealed by collector within the last twenty years. Pressed paper cases have split at the spines. Small chip along top edge of Wildflower case.
