An intriguing communication regarding certain emissaries sent by Croghan with messages for key frontier tribes; written at a time of continuing Indian war-making against the English, during the French and Indian war: "I have Dispatched two of the Conistogos [a Pennsylvania tribe] to Ohio with Mesidges [messages] to ye Six Nations, Dallaways, [Delawares], Shawne[e]s there. Ye messages I sent to Tiahoga is not yet returned, butt as this River is now open I Suppose they will soon be Down. As Soon as they a Rive [arrive] I will give your honour Notice..."
