The author's first book, concerning modern poets, specifically Ottoline Morrell's friends D. H. Lawrence, T. S. Eliot, Edith Sitwell and Siegfried Sassoon. PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed 'To Ottoline with love from the author 25.10.34.' WITH AN AUTOGRAPH LETTER FROM THE AUTHOR, thanking Ottoline Morrell, with impressions of Virginia Woolf. 'I enjoyed meeting Virginia Woolf. I thought her rather alarming but she was charming to me: & I do think she is beautiful to look at. Also thanking Morrell for her support: I dont believe I should have got my book published without your encouragement and help.' Between graduating from Oxford and joining the books department of The Sunday Times in 1928, Powell served as Ottoline Morrell's secretary and assistant. QUENNELL, Peter (1905-1993).
