Contemporary quarter calf (covers detached, worn). A fine composite atlas, principally comprising maps published by Covens and Mortier. Vol. I contains the world map and four hemispheric maps, maps of Portugal and Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and the Low Countries. Volume II contains England, the Northern countries, Russia, Eastern Europe, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Asia, Africa and the Americas. 29 American maps include: Carte d'Amerique , 1774; L'Amérique septentrionale and L'Amérique méridionale , both 1757; Carte particuliére de l'Amérique septentrionale (French version of Popple's A Map of the British Empire in America ); Nouvelle carte particuliére de l'Amérique, ou sont exactement marquees une partie de la Baye d'Hudson... ; ... ou sont exactement marquees la Nouvelle Bretagne, le Canada ou nouvelle France and ... ou sont exactement marquees les Provinces suivantes comme la Caroline meridionale (also after Popple); A Chorographical Map of the Northern Department of North-America ; and Carte de la Louisiane, Maryland, Virginie, Caroline, Georgie, avec une partie de la Floride .
