(Small wormtrack to margins of M and Q3-4, short closed tear to outer margin of Q1, Z4 and Hh4 chipped not affecting text, narrow hole to margin of Ddd2, light sporadic spotting.) 17th-century calf gilt, lettering-piece with gilt lettering and later label with date in manuscript (rubbed, bumped, few slight worm traces, small chip to foot of spine). Provenance : Earls of Macclesfield (bookplate and blindstamps, sale Sotheby's 10 June 2004, lot 559). THE IMPORTANT THIRD EDITION OF DE REVOLUTIONIBUS , the first with commentary by Nicholaus Müller of Groningen. It was published one year after the work was decreed suspended 'until corrected' by papal authority; the effects of this decree were largely confined to Italy, however.
