Schreiber's Kinder-Theatre, Germany: Esslingen, circa 1895, collection of chromolithographed paper figures for No.36 'Around the World in Eighty Days', comprising 7 of 12 from Sheet 1 (plus two duplicates), 6 of 10 from sheet 2 (plus one duplicate), all cut-out and mounted onto card with wooden block at feet and metal hangers, approximate height of cut-outs 14cm (5.5ins), together with eight additional figures, probably by differing publishers, some soiling and creasing, several with small losses such as feathers, spearhead, hands (one detached but present), four repaired, one head deficient, plus two backgrounds and two sets of three wings, unrelated, all of London scenes J.F. Schreiber's paper theatres set the standard for German toy theatres, producing sheets of a superior quality to those that had gone before. (a small carton)
