The Chichagova sisters Galina and Olga studied at VKhUTEMAS and exhibited in the international press exhibition in Cologne in 1928. They produced with N. G. Smirnov well designed picture books for the "New Children's Library" that aspired to purge all traces of the old Tsarist fairy tales from juvenile literature, replacing them with the wonders of the modern industrial progress through simple forms and basic colors. Here a little boy visits farmers, soldiers, physicians, librarians, mechanics, cooks, laundresses and other noble laborers before heading to the Kremlin to talk with Mikhail Ivanovich Kalinin, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee and the nominal head of state of the USSR.
