EXCEPTIONAL SPIRITS Following the success of our sales of Exceptional Spirits in December 2015 and April this year, we are delighted to offer another selection of rare and exceptional spirits in this sale of Fine and Rare Wines and Spirits. Many collectors are, once again, focused on whisky and we are offering a stellar selection of bottles that have a varied appeal. Highlights include bottles of Macallan 1946 Select Reserve, Glenfiddich 40 Year Old, Brora 30 Year Old, a pair of old Glen Grants from 1948 and 1950, a rare collection of Glenmorangie bottles from the 1970s and the stunning quartet of bottles which form Highland Park’s Valhalla Collection – whiskies that express the depth and multi-faceted complexity of Highland Park’s inimitable style. This selection of legendary whiskies is joined by rare old Armagnac and iconic Cognac in the form of Courvoisier’s Erté Collection. We’re particularly thrilled to be offering a large selection of rare, privately-bottled Château de Laubade Armagnac, offered in case quantity. This Armagnac is a special blend of two barrels, one of 1948, the other of 1956. It was created by the cellarmaster of Château Laubade in 2000 for a private wedding. As the Armagnac is a blend of two vintages, French law prohibited either vintage to be included on the bottle, so the Armagnac is simply labeled as Laubade Armagnac, Special Réserve. This is a totally unique, wonderful expression of one of the greatest Armagnac house's spirit. Please note that lots containing spirits may be subject to local shipping restrictions. Please contact the wine department for more information. CHATEAU DE LAUBADE The venerable Armagnac producer Château de Laubade has held 260 acres of land Sorbets d’Armagnac in Bas Armagnac since 1870. The Lesgourgues family, who have been running the distillery since 1974, are proponents of sustainable agriculture. To that end, every year a herd of 600 ewes is scattered throughout the vineyard to produce a sizable quantity of organic manure. Château de Laubade also holds the distinction of being one of the very few properties in Armagnac that uses the four traditional grape varieties of the appellation. The assemblage consists of 47% Ugni Blanc, 30% Baco 22A, 15% Colombard and 8% Folle Blanche. Château de Laubade is also known for their use of an Alembic pot still, which was custom tailored for the distillery in 1974. The Armagnac is produced using only one single distillation and then laid to rest in casks that were coopered in house and sourced from various forests that surround the property. This unique, privately bottled blend of Château de Laubade Armagnac, was made in honor of the consignor's wedding celebration. It is comprised of a blend of the bride and groom's birth year vintages: 1948 and 1956. Château de Laubade, Armagnac, Special Reserve Bas Armagnac Lots 119-130 levels: 4cm or better; a blend of 1948 and 1956 In individual wooden presentation boxes inside original cartons Parcel: lots 119-130 12 bottles per lot
