Beschreibung:

Chassis Number 16885 was built in June 1956 as a left hand drive 1500 and was exported straight to the USA. For approximately ten years the car was used on the road and for the next ten was raced very successfully in the SCCA series on the West Coast of America. Painted school bus yellow, it was raced with a Huffaker race prepared 1600 3 bearing MGA engine, limited slip differential and all appropriate modifications. The car's SCCA number was 33.105a, whilst racing with the number 105f on the bodywork. Re-imported into the UK in July 1987, the next 16 years saw a meticulous ground up restoration with many period features incorporated from the 1955 Le Mans cars. The car was sold to its current owner in August 2004 approximately 50% finished and a hard winter saw her ready for the 50 th Anniversary of the MGA at Silverstone in July 2005. The car is painted in its original Tyrolite Green and has been finished with many period features including: aluminium panels, aluminium flooring, a Bob West rebuilt Huffaker 1800 race engine, close ratio helical gearbox, racing clutch, Le Mans screen, lightweight aluminium rear view mirrors, period Lucas cut out switch, modified air intakes, Lucas flame thrower spotlight, oil cooler, limited slip diff, aluminium fuel tank, aluminium hand-made radiator, micro cell leather covered 1960s racing seats, anti roll bar, drilled and lightened chassis and suspension where possible, Le Mans bonnet air scoop, vented bonnet, and an Austin Healey 3000 type leather bonnet strap. In 2005 the wheels were replaced with Minilites (used by the works team from 1967) and a complete Maniflow exhaust system from the inlet manifold to the rear silencer was fitted. Rolling road set up by Peter Baldwin at Wiltshire's Garage confirmed a reading of 160 bhp. Handling has also been improved greatly with lightened MGA springs and adjustable lever arm shock absorbers. With achievements ranging from car of the show at the 2006 Brooklands MG Era day to 3rd in class at the Easter 2009 Goodwood Sprint, this delightful MGA is described as: ""docile and tractable on the road, ferocious on the track with superb torque for rallying,"" making 16885 a very usable and desirable all round car.
