CHARLES JAMES LEWIS (1831-1892) "On the Thames near Aston Cottage" a study of two figures in a punt, oil on panel, apparently unsigned, inscribed on labels verso 26 cm x 55 cm CONDITION REPORTS Has had some small areas of touching up. There are some areas of flaking to the paintwork, particularly in the top right hand corner and to the skyline approx mid way. The board is split in a very straight line approx a third in from the right hand side. There is also a crack to the board approx centre which is about 2 cm long. There is a score line along the bottom of the picture, again very straight. Areas of crazing variously throughout. Appears to have been re-varnished. Otherwise general wear and tear conducive with age and display. In need of a clean. See images, including under UV, for further detail. Frame has some minor losses, knocks, etc again conducive with age and use.
