An original charcoal drawing by Bernard Berntsen who was employed along with Suzuki with the Federal Art Project, to paint a mural for the grand lobby of Willard Parker Hospital. Berntsen studied under Thomas Hart Benton and John Steuart Curry at the Arts Students League in New York from 1933-1935. This image shows Suzuki painting a beaker, as the mural was of doctors and scientists in a laboratory. The mural was destroyed when the hospital was demolished. Lot Amendments Condition: Surface yellowed in a 1" margin along edges, and through the middle, from removed tape(?); good. Item number: 211147
