Lot of seven. One image shows two men, one on a sulkey-type vehicle drawn by a single horse, the other man standing by the wheel. Imprint below of "Well G. Singhi, Artist," no location. The gentlemen are not South Asian. Two images have photographer's imprint of Packard, Kalamazoo. They appear to be the same person, one in Western dress, one in traditional dress. The back of each has a Bible verse in English and Burmese. One is the Lord's Prayer, the other is the 23rd Psalm. Both are dated Jan. 1878 and signed Myatt Kyaari, Rangoon, Burma. One image shows a man holding his son with the photographer's imprint of S. Hormusjee, Kalbadevi Road, Bombay. This is a "deluxe" card - heavy card, beveled edges with gilt, suggesting fairly high status for the sitter. Another card is of a gentleman from probably Southeast Asia. The photographer's imprint is Nock, Cleveland, Ohio. The name on ink on verso is "Mong Chaw Loo." One image is of an East Asian man in a Chinese-style robe with standing color, although he wears a Western shirt and tie under it. Backmark of "Brasier Brooklyn, NY." The last shows three shelves of South American pottery, including some that appear to be Moche or Chimu with faces, seated figures, one made like a fish, another a bird, many with stirrup handles. (None of the really erotic stuff, sorry.) Provenance: From the Estate of Kenneth Erwin, Portland, Michigan Condition: Last with quite a bit of surface soil, one bent corner. Mong Loo with clipped corners.
