(21 7/8 x 15 1/8in.), contemporary maroon half morocco gilt and with gilt-lettered label on upper cover, leather restored but darkened, book detached from binding, plate 5 with a 6-inch and 4-inch tear into image, the larger repaired with transparent tape on verso, plates 15 and 17 with similar but smaller repaired tears to blank margins, plates 22 and 24 with old repairs from margins into image, some old dampsoiling causing nicks and abrasion at sheet edges, occasionally touching a caption, plates 5, 9, 13 and 18 have sheets darkened, spot on plate 10, some soiling at edges, text leaves chipped. FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, letterpress title-leaf, "To the American Public" leaf and 12 pp. (numbered [5]-16) descriptions to each plate, 25 lithographed plates on thick wove paper with the rectos glazed, all FINELY HANDCOLORED.
