London: Christie's, 27 July 1803. 8 o (203 x 120 mm). Modern marbled boards. Provenance : A.L. McLaughlin (bookplate). Sale catalogue of the library of Calonne (1734-1802), the French statesman, whose proposals to reform the French finances might have saved the monarchy. Napoléon, as Consul, in 1802, allowed him to return to France, where he died a few months later. Those of his books which he had not been forced to sell, were sold by his widow, in 1803.
