Beschreibung:

Model 1900 Luger manufactured by DWM under contract for Switzerland. This example, being one of the first 600 Model 1900 Lugers delivered to Switzerland in 1901, bears a Swiss crown within a sunburst over the chamber, with the "DWM" monogram on the toggle. Small Swiss cross proofs are present on the left side of the receiver, left side of barrel, top of rear toggle link, as well as the rear of the frame. Simpson LTD. import stamp is present on the bottom of the frame, just ahead of the trigger guard. Features include a 4 - 11/16" tapered barrel, dished toggles, grip safety, flat mainspring, unrelieved frame, "U" notch rear sight, as well as 2-piece checkered walnut grips. All numbers are matching, with the exception of the firing pin and magazine, which are appropriately unnumbered. Locking bolt and magazine button exhibit early style numbering on their right sides. Front sight appears to be a period replacement. This example is accompanied by one early Swiss magazine flat button magazine with a wood base with discs. PROVENANCE: Sold at James D. Julia Auctioneers in October of 2016 (Lot 3134). Former Friedrich-Wilhelm Dauphin Collection, Germany. CONDITION: Excellent overall, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their Swiss arsenal finish, exhibiting few and minor areas of wear and thinning that lightly show through to a pleasant patina, as well as an area of silvering on the left side of the receiver and rear of frame rom manual operation of the action. Bluing on rear toggle link has been touched up, softening the "DWM" monogram stamp. Strawed components retain most of their finish, exhibiting some areas of wear that is mostly concentrated on the trigger. Locking bolt has been touched up at one point in time. Mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Grips are very good, showing some smoothing and a few minor nicks to the diamonds. An exemplary early production Swiss Model 1900 Luger that would make for a fine addition to the discerning Luger enthusiast's collection.
