Byzantine and Other Artefact Collection 10th-20th century AD A mixed group of Byzantine and Arab-Byzantine bronze trade weights comprising: two tabular weights each with two roundels to one face; a teardrop pendant with three ring-and-dot motifs; a columnar weight with waisted upper body and domed top; a collar with fixing hole, pointed 'nib' with low-relief winged angel figure; a part-glazed Byzantine ceramic oil lamp with folded nozzle, inset later bronze medallion set into the underside: featuring an arcade with figures adoring a seated bishop with crozier beneath a figure in a tower with winged angels; legend to the border 'S' CAPITVLI:ECCLESIA:SANCTI:HALWARDI:ASLOIA', copying the seal of the head church of Saint Halvard, Oslo; a rectangular panel with raised geometric design, and a D-shaped panel with beaded border; a group of three mounts, two heater-shaped with scooped upper edge and one hexafoil; and a mixed group of mainly bronze military and other buttons. 339 grams total, 12-92mm (1/2 - 3 1/2").
