Broadside.- Trial & execution of a serial killer.- Trial, Sentence and Execution of Constance Wilson, for the Murder of Mrs. Maria Soames, of Alfred Street, Fitzroy Square, 520 x 375mm., large wood-engraved vignette of the execution and a small portrait of Wilson, a few short tears, mostly marginal, one to lower left corner just within text, without loss, staining and spotting, silked, Catnach Press, 1862. ⁂ The last woman to be publicly hanged in London. Wilson (whose real name was Catherine) worked as a live-in nurse and having persuaded her patient to alter her will in her favour she poisoned her. Astonishingly she was acquitted of this charge, but was rearrested as she left court and charged with seven similar murders. She was tried on only one count (our broadside).
