McHorse is Navajo and therefore did not have the same pressures to adhere to a Pueblo style. As a result she took on freedoms other Indian potters seemed reluctant to embrace, more attuned to contemporary art. Her works are extremely complex to make and the artist produces around ten piece a year. A national traveling exhibition Dark Light: The Micaceous Pottery of Christine Nofchissey McHorse begins in September 2012 at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City.
