The Heidelberg librarian Janus Gruterus (1560-1627) revised Livineus’ work and added notes by V. Acidalius (1567-1595) and C. Rittershusius (1560-1613). Woodcut mark on title. On front endpaper large coloured armorial bookpl. of Alexandre Petau (d. 1672), who inherited the famous scholarly library of his father Paul Petau (1568-1614) and sold parts of it to various European collectors such as Isaac Vossius and Queen Christina of Sweden.
