Publisher's tan cloth, lettered on covers and spine in color, pictorial endpapers, housed in a lettered clamshell case. Condition: very light thumbsoiling; spine lightly faded with tips gently rubbed. first edition, mixed state with the illustration on p. 220 in color; fifth line of the ‘author’s note’ on p. 11 has the ‘o’ in ‘ozma’; pp.135-136 and 221-222 are integral while pp. 153-154 is a cancel. This and The Patchwork Girl of Oz (1913) were the most lavishly illustrated of all the Oz Books, with full-page and textual pictures in full color throughout. When the publishers dropped the color in 1935, many of the details were lost.
