BARDI, Giovanni de, Count di Vernio.] Discorso sopra'l giuoco del calcio fiorentino. Del puro accademico alterato [G. de Bardi]. Di nuovo ristampato. Florence: Cosimo Giunti, 1615. 4°. Title with woodcut arms of the Medici and cartouch enclosing the word "Discorso" at head. Folding etched plate at end. Two ornamental woodcut initials. (Plate and text spotted.) Later vellum (bowed). Provenance : Pietro Ginori Conti (armorial bookplate). Second edition cited by Brunet. The first edition appeared in 1580. The 2-page dedication to Maria Maddalena Archduchess of Austria, Grand Duchess of Tuscany, is signed by the publisher, Cosimo Giunti. The plate shows the game being played in the piazza Santa Croce at carnival. BL 17th-Century Italian I, p. 74; Brunet I, 653; Gamba 99 (note).
