Whole-plate ambrotype in case, internal case measurements 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches (165 x 215 mm), the visible portion of the image 5 1/4 x 7 1/4 inches (130 x 184 mm). Housed in a felt-lined papier mache Union case. A few spots visible on the sky area, but in general a very attractive example, the tones strong and the composition extremely attractive, the lid of the case separated. Babbitt specialized in views of Niagara Falls, and this is typical of his compositions. Six figures, all hatted, stand by the banks of the Upper Falls. Provenance: Hans P.
