Augustinus de Ancona's Summa de potestate ecclesiastica Petrus Ungarus, not after 1480 AUGUSTINUS DE ANCONA (1243-1328). Summa de potestate ecclesiastica. [Lyons: Petrus Ungarus, not after 1480.] Fourth edition, in a contemporary binding. Augustinus of Ancona, an ardent curialist, wrote extensively on church politics and this, perhaps his most famous work, is "the most comprehensively detailed assertion of papal authority ever attempted" (McGrade). Provenance: Luneville, Augustinian Canons Regular (inscription dated 1657) – M. René Amédée Choppin (bookplate) – acquired from Bernard Quaritch, Ltd, 29 January 1965.
