Army Meritorious Service Medal, G.V.R., 1st issue (S. Ar. Sjt. A. Lawson, C. of A.) nearly extremely fine, scarce to unit £120-160 Footnote Alexander Lawson was born in Edinburgh. A Gunsmith by occupation, he attested for the Corps of Armourers on 28 October 1864, aged 28 years, 11 months. With the Corps he served in British North America, September 1865-February 1870, serving as an Armourer Sergeant, October 1864-April 1883 and as a Staff Armourer Sergeant, April 1883 until his discharge on 7 December 1888. Awarded the M.S.M. with an annuity of £10 on 10 July 1913. He died c.1921. With copied service papers.
