Request for permission to publish his work in the Journal, a new Chicago publication. Docketed by Field. * 3-page ALs from Anna C. Rice, dated Jan. 20, 1891. Judging from the content, she is likely an acquaintance or family friend, Anna asks for a copy of the soon to release limited edition. * 4-page ALs from Jahu DeWitt Miller on his letterhead, dated 6 Jan 91. Asks for an inscription in a book. * 1-page TLs from Lew Vanderpoole dated October 8th, 1891. Asks for a copy of Field’s upcoming Horace. Tipped along one edge to stiff backing. * 2-page TLs from S.S. McClure on his company letterhead, dated June 29th, 1893. Asks for submission of verses and sermons that “Garland’s article” refers to. * 1-page TLs from James MacArthrur on The Bookman letterhead, dated Feb. 2nd, 1895. Asks for a manuscript. Tipped along one edge to stiff backing. * 1-page ALs from Henry Altemus on his Philadelphia Bible Warehouse letterhead, dated July 15th, 1889. Request for submission of a work similar to his Horace. Tipped along one edge to stiff backing. * 2-page TLs from Edward W., Bok on Ladies' Home Journal letterhead, dated April 6, 1894. In regards to a recently submitted work. * 1-page from Ladies' Home Journal, printed for the most part with autograph writing. Dated April 6th 1894 (accompanies the previous) and details the remission of payment for poems submitted. All together nine letters to Eugene Field about his work. The first letter is docketed in Field's microscopic autograph pencil, "Answered Yes, Mar. 24, 1894." Lot Amendments Condition: Many creased where once folded, just the slightest edge wear to many; very good. Item number: 208323
