Published: PADOVA, 1769
Second edition of this fantastic poem by Archerio Filoseleno pseudonymous of Antonio Caputi (fl. 1759) born in Cosenza, Calabria. The name of the author is indicated on page 327 and the editor is anonymous. This poem describes a mystic and fantastic travel to the moon, one of the first novels of this kind. Calcographic vignette featuring dogs barking at the moon. The text is enriched by nine wonderful full page allegorical prints engraved by Francesco de Luca featuring moon views and fantastic creatures as winged horses. Good complete copy. Full parchment coeval cover with golden title and decorations in the spine in very good general conditions slightly worn in the edges and spine. Signs of black pen in the spine. Binding in good conditions. Inside pages are in good conditions with foxings and some yellowings. In 8. Dim. 23x18 cm.Pp. XXIII + (3) + 328 + IX + (3).
