Beschreibung:

ANONIMOUS. pianta della citta di Rimino come si trova nell'ano MDCXVI . No imprint: [1616]. Engraved map of Rimini on a single Royal sheet, 317 x 422mm. The title along upper margin, arms of Rimini, compass rose, the sea decorated with a galleon and fishing boats, scalebar, manuscript additions. (Trimmed to image, window-mounted, some light staining.) VERY RARE PLAN of Rimini with its major monuments inside and outside the walls drawn in bird's-eye perspective. The plan has been prepared for transfer with a manuscript grid, drawn and neatly numbered along the lower edge, over the plan. This and the manuscript additions, comprising two buildings drawn in perspective, including 'Sant Andrea', and 'Vescovato'. The map also includes the end of the Via Flaminia, the Roman Consular road, with the famous arches of Augustus and Julius II, and one of the greatest of Renaissance churches, San Francesco or the temple of the Malatesta. The temple of the Malatesta was built by Sigismondo Malatesta (1417-1468), one of the most learned of Renaissance men, who commissioned Leon Battista Alberti to encase the shell of 13th-century Franciscam church. Watermark illegible.
