Philippe had published an edition in 1510 (Adams A1159). The above edition is possibly earlier since Philippe seems to have been working for Roce around 1500-1505. The first dated edition of the text was printed in Strassburg in 1488 and it quickly became the standard handbook, used by parish priests as well as laymen, for calculating Easter and other movable feasts. As the title implies, the hands and fingers assisted in reckoning, and most early editions contain woodcuts illustrating the method.
