The 39 inch watered steel barrel with seven groove rifling in .54 caliber; cannon muzzle and forward section of barrel with gold damascened banding; narrow sighting rib widening in front of the breech and molded with lappet-form terminals; breech section with integral rear sight and also damascened with gold banding. Four engraved silver capucines. Lock overlaid with gold florals. Full stock with flared two-piece butt of pentagonal section. Silver fore-end cap and engraved silver barrel wedge escutcheons, the buttstock inlaid with pierced and engraved silver panels. Condition: Very good. Barrel with dark grey patina showing scattered spotting/light pitting partially obscuring the Damascus pattern. Gold banding possibly not original. Lock with dark patina and minor losses to gold decoration. Sound wood with scattered light marks. See Illustration
