An original European 17th or 18th century rapier or early smallsword blade (probably Italian) with the faint remains of a maker's name and a star symbol in the recess of the fuller, the blade being 76cm long. Re-hilted at a later date, probably in India, with a dark hardwood grip, brass ferrule and brass circular guard, having concentric circle decoration to the front. Overall length 88.5cm.
