AN ITALIAN ENGRAVED IVORY-INLAID EBONY CABINET ON STAND** THE CABINET LATE 16TH EARLY 17TH CENTURY, THE STAND 19TH CENTURY, PROBABLY NAPLES, POSSIBLY BY GIOVANNI BATTISTA DE CURTIS, GENNARO PICICATO AND IACOBO FIAMENGO The rectangular cabinet inlaid overall with biblical figures and scenes taken from the Old Testament and 'Jerusal Delivered', the top with rectangular parquetry amaranth and walnut panels above the molded frieze with two frieze-drawers with animals and grotesque masks in foliage, above two doors enclosing a profusely decorated interior with a central door flanked by fluted columns enclosing a parquetry interior, and flanked by ten drawers, above a long drawer with four panels of animal fights, the sides similarly inlaid, on the ebony and ebonized stand with molded edge and frieze-drawer above segmented fluted column legs joined by a waved X-shaped stretcher and on raised bun feet, the interior of the central recess of the cabinet possibly reveneered The cabinet 25 in. (65 cm.) high, 28¼ in. (72 cm.) wide, 15¾ in. (40 cm.) deep The stand 33½ in. (85 cm.) high, 30½ in. (78 cm.) wide, 17 in. (43 cm.) deep
