An interesting collection of ninety-one crosses and reliquaries dating from Antiquity to the 19th Century, with accompanying research notes and supporting material, examples include: a 17th Century Spanish gold pectoral cross of eight table-cut rock crystals and a single triangular-cut rock crystal, the reverse with white dot and black enamel decoration and white dot enamel bead decoration, an antique, possibly 17th Century gold quatrefoil pendant of medallion form of the Spanish Inquisition, with black and white enamel fleurs-de-lys design decoration (refer Cat. V & A exhibition: Princely Magnificence, Plate III, P.16 and Plate 97, P.81), a 19th Century gold oval reliquary pendant of locket design, with central pierced and engraved cross motif, a mid-19th Century gold amethyst cluster cross Pattee pendant, a 19th Century large gilt reliquary pectoral cross, the centre with a collet-set foiled cabochon sapphire, the arms with various cabochon gems, the reverse engraved with The Crucifixion, the accompanying manuscript notes refer to this cross as being formerly part of the regalia Reale of Spain and later of France, and was given by the Emperor Franz Joseph to Prince Louis Charles de Bourbon in 1896, a 19th Century silver Russian Orthodox cross, an early 19th Century gold brooch-mounted moss agate cross pendant, two 18th Century hinged reliquary pendant crosses, with engraved decoration, and an 18th Century gilt cross pendant with bead terminals.
