An impressive Viennese mahogany, carved gilt-wood and ormolu month going longcase regulator with calendar Joseph Brumer in Wein. Circa 1810 The case with stepped hood surmounted by a carved gilt-wood eagle, detachable hood with architectural pediment inlaid with mother-of-pearl to the front and sides, ebonised columns with ormolu capitals, ormolu laurel wreath to the tympanum and foliate cast spandrels to the door with spring-loaded catch, the trunk with lappet-carved gilt-wood moulding above twin bearded caryatides to the columns flanking the trunk door with six ebonised and ormolu mounted spear-headed balustrades, the plinth with gilt-wood and ormolu mounts and supported on ormolu bun feet, the white enamel dial (restored) signed Joseph Brumer in Wein with Roman and Arabic chapters, seconds, day (with deity) and date rings, all hands of blued steel, the massive month-going movement with thick brass shouldered plates, six cylindrical pillars secured at the front plate with curved latches, high-count going train with maintaining power and Graham-type deadbeat escapement, brass-rod pendulum with massive bob; original mahogany and cut steel crank key 9ft. 3in. (282cm.) high
