AN EXTREMELY RARE PAIR OF ORMOLU-MOUNTED 'MADAME DE POMPADOUR' CACHE-POTSThe porcelain: Qianlong Period, circa 1745; the French Regence-style ormolu mounts later
Painted in rich enamels to the gently rounded sides in a style reminiscent of French faience with Asian fruit and flowers divided by leafy European-style cartouches with alternate designs of a single fish and an eagle below a crown, all below the sharply curving shoulder similarly painted with fruit and flower groups, four original oval apertures to the shoulder on both vessels, all supported on French Regence-style bronze mounts with three cabriole legs dividing a laurel-wreathed female mask, the rim with a simple channeled bronze mount.
