An English steel and brass clockmakers mandrel unsigned but probably by J & T Jones, Prescot, mid 19th century with three-arm faceplate and brass frame slide-mounted on a 19 inch steel bed with simple tool rest, on six down curved supports, length 48cm. An almost identical mandrel by J & T Jones of Prescot is illustrated in Crom, Theodore R. Horological Shop Tools 1700-1900 page 527. Provenance: The Workshop of John Hooper.
