Glaciel Kame Culture / Late Archaic Period, 4000-1500 B.C. Hardin County Ohio 4-1/8 inches The dark black matrix and the contrasting bright gold phenochrysts create a stunning visual impact. Ed Howe found this birdstone near his hometown of Kenton, prior to 1934. Mr. Howe was the proprietor of a gaming parlor on the square in downtown Kenton and a collector of prehistoric artifacts. The next collector, was Eugene Hirzel of Toledo, who assembled a very select collection of birdstones and other forms of prehistoric art.
