DYNASTY XVIII, CIRCA 1386-1349 B.C.
AN EGYPTIAN TURQUOISE GLAZED FRIT SCARAB OF AMENOPHIS III DYNASTY XVIII, CIRCA 1386-1349 B.C. The reverse with cartouche of Neb-maat-re, ¾ in. (1.9 cm.) long; a large glazed steatite heart scarab with detailed notches on the wing case, traces of turquoise blue glaze, probably reign of Amenhotep III, 1386-1349 B.C., 3 in. (7.7 cm.) long; sixteen steatite scarabs comprising one with rev. cartouche Sebek-hotep, 7/8 in. (2.2 cm.) long, Dynasty XIII (circa 1786-1663 B.C.); cowroid, rev. Hathor head, ½ in. (1.3 cm.) long; rev. cartouche Men-kheper-re (Tuthmosis III), all Dynasty XVIII; rev. recumbent ram holding Maat figure, ¾ in. (1.9 cm.) long; another, rev. winged scarab, ¾ in. (1.9 cm.) long, Dynasty XIX (circa 1295-1186 B.C.); and four each with incised hieroglyphs on reverse, probably Late New Kingdom; rev. male figure with snake, 1 in. (2.3 cm.) long; another similar, ¾ in. (1.9 cm.) long, Second Intermediate Period (circa 1786-1590 B.C.); rev. good luck mottoes, 3/8 in. (0.9 cm.) long, Third Intermediate Period (circa 1069-945 B.C.); two others, each with incised motifs, 5/8 in. (1.5 cm.) long max., Late New Kingdom; three amethyst scarabs, Middle Kingdom (circa 2133-1797 B.C.); three cornelian scarabs, New Kingdom, Dynasty XVIII/XIX; a turquoise glazed steatite scarab, rev. Tuthmosis III; four others; and a Bes amulet, ½ in. (1.4 cm.) long max. (28)
