An early French Prisoner of War bone and horn model of the H.M.S. Royal George, 1756 , a first rate 120 gun Ship of the Line with polychrome figurehead, bound bow sprit, bound masts with tops and spreaders, rat lines and other standing and running rigging. The strake is of horn and is pinned. The masts are bound in gold. There is a bell, a windlass, cannons, fife and pin-rails. The main hatch to the second deck with railings on turned columns. There are ladders, quarter galleries with windows, stern galleries with windows and balconies and two ship's boats carved in basswood. The blocks are bone and the linen rigging (later). It is flying the ensign of the white fleet and the British flag. In original straw marquetry case with original knob and handle, front silvered mirrors in the interior, original glass front with green silk curtains, with the ivory wooden pieces for the garden fence. 14½ x 11in. (36.8 x 27.9cm.), in glass case; and, 16 x 12¾in. (40.6 x 32.4cm.), in wicker case (3)
