AN ANGLO-INDIAN SILVER METAL-MOUNTED IVORY WRITING AND WORK-BOX VIZAGAPATAM, EARLY 19TH CENTURY Decorated overall with bands of engraved foliage and with floral swags, the rectangular stepped and gadrooned hinged lid enclosing a fitted sandalwood interior, the underside of the lid with a hidden compartment, with waisted sides and hinged to reveal fitted lidded compartments, above a long drawer revealing a hinged writing slope, the sides with silver metal oval medallions of a mask with feathered headdress and handles, the interior of the writing slope inscribed 'ELIZABETH' 10½ in. (27 cm.) high; 13½ in. (34 cm.) wide; 11 in. (28 cm.) deep
