Meanwhile, in a curious bit of foreshadowing, Peter Parker's secret identity nearly gets exposed by Professor Warren, who sees Pete's Spidey tunic poking out from under his sweater ("Lucky he's so NEAR-SIGHTED — he didn't see the WEB PATTERN!"). A few panels later, Professor Warren expresses approval upon learning that Pete's dating Gwen Stacy ("You're bringing MISS STACY? I certainly admire your CHOICE, Parker!"). Years later, it was revealed that not only did Warren sniff out Pete's secret identity, but he also had the hots for Gwen, who he cloned (and boned?) after her death (see ASM #s 142-149).
