Beschreibung:

Alfa Romeo P2 Racing Car Model A 1:18 scale handmade scratch built model of the revered 1924 Alfa Romeo P2. Constructed from aluminum, this model features the most intricate of details such as hinged bonnet with leather straps allowing viewing of the beautifully detailed engine, Pirelli 'balloon' tires and working front wheel steering. No detail has been overlooked - even the clutch and brake pedals have 'Alfa Romeo' carved into them. This fine model is presented in a display case with a wooden plinth. Historical footnote: Recruited by Alfa Romeo in 1923, Vittorio Jano a former senior draughtsman and head of racing at Fiat immediately set about creating next season's race car; in just 6 months he had masterminded arguably the racing car of the decade - the P2. With double overhead cams and a supercharger, the 1987cc. straight eight cylinder engine developed 140 bhp (a 25 bhp increase on the P1) and was enough to propel its streamlined 2 seater body to speeds just short of 140 mph. Piloted by Count Brilli Prieri, the P2 won the 1924 World Championship. It is interesting to note that the famous Alfa Romeo badge owes its surrounding laurel wreath to the success brought by the P2/Prieri partnership.
