Beschreibung:

Lot consists of: first, a rare, late Victorian carved oak folding camp chair with red and white striped canvas seat, carved and painted patriotic eagle hand grips, and the letter "D" carved at the center of the top panel of the back of the chair; second, a large "REED & BARTON" silver plate espresso pot with ebony handle and cover, engraved with a ship's anchor above the letters "USN"; and third, a pair of brass, leather-wrapped binoculars with fitted eyepieces and with original case. The items are approximately from the last quarter of the 19th century, purportedly from the camp "Property of Admiral George Dewey" in Lake George, New York. George Dewey (1837 - 1917) is best known for his conquering of the Spanish fleet at the Battle of Manila Bay in the Spanish-American War. Purchased by the consigner from the owner of the "PATRIOT MUSEUM OF LAKE GEORGE", Lake George, New York. The chair retains original surface with rich, undisturbed patina. The paint is somewhat rubbed from the eagle hand grip, however the crimson from the interior of the beak remains pronounced. The back is a combination of spoon carvings and vinery, centering the uppercase carved initial "D". The espresso pot with side handle and ebony with gadrooned edges and S-shaped spout is in very good overall condition. The binoculars show normal and expected in-use wear, and the case shows abrasion around the bottom and is missing the lid. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made. Item Dimensions: Largest: 31 - 1/2" x 18 - 3/4" x 15 - 1/2". Name Value Paperwork
