Depicted is a scene from the Akō incident, also known as the revenge of the forty- seven rōnin (leaderless samurai), showing a group of rōnin trying to attack the residence of the well-guarded Kira from the front gate. Signature/inscription and seals in on the right side of the painting. SIZE 21.8 x 33.9 cm (image), 94.7 x 39.5 cm (incl. mounting) Condition: Overall the painting presents well with fresh colors. Minor browning, soiling, creasing, and losses to the painting. The mounting with wear and soiling. Provenance: German private collection.
