A well engineered 3in. scale model of the Burrell single cylinder, two-speed, three-shaft general purpose traction engine "Progress" Reg. No. PB 1875
A well engineered 3in. scale model of the Burrell single cylinder, two-speed, three-shaft general purpose traction engine "Progress" Reg. No. PB 1875, with welded steel boiler with copper tubes and with fittings including water gauge, glass protector and shut-off cocks, pressure gauge, safety, blower, whistle, injector and clack valves. Engine details include cylinder 2in. bore x 2½in. stroke, footplate controlled draincocks and pipework, ratchet-operated lubricator, crosshead driptray, valve spindle guide, Stephenson's link reverse, strapped bolted and wedged big end, two road speeds mounted outside the hornplates, eccentric driven feed pump and by-pass and spoked flywheel. Further engine details include wick-type lubricator boxes and oil pots to all bearings and Pickering governor and drive belt. Chassis details include worm and roller chain steering, spoked straked wheels with brass hub caps and removable driving pins, cable drum, cable and fair leads, footplate-controlled damper, band brake to second shaft, injector, whistle and tool box. Further details include working electric headlamps, rear axle differential unit and other details. Finished in maroon, red and black with red and yellow lining and polished brightwork with cast plates -- 76.2 x 119.5cm. (30 x 47in.)
