A Wedgwood lilac-dip jasper cylindrical custard cup and cover, circa 1786, overlaid with a white trellis field and with a pierced trellis cover, impressed WEDGWOOD, paper label for Manley Hall Sale 1875, 6.5cm high; A Wedgwood tear-shaped solid lilac jasper custard cup, circa 1786, overlaid with a white trellis field, impressed WEDGWOOD, 7cm in length; a Wedgwood pale-lilac-dip jasper jug, sprigged in white with classical subjects, impressed WEDGWOOD, circa 1790, 8cm high and a Wedgwood pale-lilac-dip jasper coffee cup and saucer, circa 1785, sprigged with putti, impressed WEDGWOOD See Edwards & Hampson, English Dry-Bodied Stoneware (1998), p. 82 for similar custard cups where the authors note that custard cups in these shapes first appeared in existing sales records in the autumn of 1786; and see Reilly & Savage, Dictionary of Wedgwood (1989), p. 170, col. pl.
