Illustrated from paintings by Miguel Covarrubias (4to), cloth-backed boards, dust jacket. First Edition. Inscribed presentation copy, signed by the editor to vaudeville personality and publisher, Joe Laurie Jr. and to his wife: “To Mrs. Joe Laurie and Daddy Joe, W.C. Handy, 11-16-1949.” Joe Laurie was close friends with Abel Green, long-time editor of Variety, who had Joe publish the 1951 book, Show Biz: From Vaude to Video ("video" at that time meant television). Lot Amendments Condition: Mild edge wear and soiling, scattered small stains; else very good in like jacket. Item number: 227277
