A small collection of medals of German subjects, comprising: Battle of Tannenburg 1914, bronze, 104 mm, uniformed bust of General von Hindenburg, rev. armoured knight with sword, nearly extremely fine; the sinking of HMS Aboukir, Hogue and Cressy by submarine U9 1914, bronze, 105 mm, Captain Otto Weddigen, rev. the sinking cruisers, text to exergue, extremely fine; Goethe, uniface bronze, 75 mm, head left, good very fine; Goethe, earthenware, 50 mm, head quarter left, rev. snake coiling round a column; Paul von Breitenbach, iron, 50 mm, bust left, rev. warrior with torch, rust spots, very fine; General von Kluck's advance on Paris 1914, silver, 34 mm, bust quarter right, rev. equestrian figure with torch, 'NACH PARIS', good very fine; 'IN EISERNER ZEIT 1916', white metal, 40 mm, kneeling figure donates jewellery for the German war effort, rev. text, very fine.
