A six-piece tapering circular tea and coffee service and a matching rounded oblong two-handled tea tray, each engraved with engine-turned foliate panels and arabesques and applied with Egyptian style and satyr's masks, comprising: a teapot, coffee pot, hot water jug, cream jug and sugar basin on egg and dart-decorated rising circular bases, and a tea kettle on an egg and dart stand with grotesque mask-capped scroll supports and with burner, the teapot, coffee pot, hot water jug and tea kettle with grotesque beast spouts, polished wood handles and plain tapering circular wood finials, the cream jug and sugar basin with leaf-capped scroll handles, the matching tray enhanced with an applied wriggle-work frieze, each piece engraved with an initial, Mappin and Webb, Sheffield 1951 and 1952 - height of kettle on stand 12¾in, length of tray 29in overall, 377oz. gross See plate 1 (7)
