(A Middle Eastern Journey | Live Online, 2nd December 2020) A SILVER FILIGREE MIRROR STAND WITH CANDLESTICKS MADE FOR THE EUROPEAN MARKET Ottoman Turkey, second half 19th century A SILVER FILIGREE MIRROR STAND WITH CANDLESTICKS MADE FOR THE EUROPEAN MARKET Ottoman Turkey, second half 19th century The mirror stand and frame of circular shape, the silver filigree arranged in concentric decorative bands of braiding and geometric fretwork, lush volutes, foliage and raised floral blooms in the centre of the frame at the top and bottom, the mirror flanked by two tubular candlesticks decorated with Eastern-inspired scrolling vegetal sprays and spirals, resting on stepped square pedestals, rising to bulbous and everted mouths, further filigree braiding and three-dimensional floral decorations on the belt below the mirror joining the bases of the candlesticks, resting on a customised black wooden base, 42cm x 43cm excluding the base.
