A Sèvres plate and a soup plate (assiette et assiette à potage) date codes for 1791, the plate decorated by Gilbert Drouet, the soup plate possibly by François-Pascal-Philippine, with a formal floral design within shaped blue borders, blue interlaced Ls marks enclosing date letters OO above painter's marks, a little gilt wear, 24cm. (2) The service these plates came from was sold to M. Verdier on 1st December 1791. A note from David Peters (dated 9th October 1991) records that the Artists' Ledger references a set of eight soup plates against Philippine jeune on 9th June 1791. He left the factory one month later and David suggests that the soup plate in this lot may have been one of the last items he completed before his departure.
